In Joshua, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant had to step into the river by faith until they saw the waters part. Often times, God gives us a word, and we get in the river at flood stage and the stream is still flowing. In the same way, when we pray, we don’t always see what’s happening in the heavenly realms. Daniel is told that his prayer was heard from the first day he humbled himself, but he had to remain faithful 21 days to see the breakthrough.

There’s danger in having a present-moment perspective that excludes God’s perspective. Offense is often created in these “still shots” of life when we refuse to move from there to the final frame of God’s purpose.

There is absolutely nothing in us that qualifies us to receive from the Father. As long as we have the mentality that we can earn the favor of God, we will never be an apostolic people. If we cannot receive on the basis of the goodness of God alone, we cannot adequately touch the nations with the gospel of the Kingdom.

We are all called out of barrenness to be fruitful and multiply in the Spirit. But once we conceive and the promise is manifested, we must continue to walk it out in the spirit and grace of God (not our own efforts). Our cry and prayer must always be to be taught by the Spirit of God.

What are we birthing our spiritual sons and daughters into? Everywhere I go, I meet believers who are sterile and childless in the Spirit. There are any number of causes for this, but God wants you to conceive. The Spirit of God wants to birth something in us and He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Never lose sight of the promise keeper.
